Managing Director (W.Howard UK)

What do you do at W.Howard?  I am responsible for the Group Operations, from purchasing of raw material, manufacturing and then warehousing / delivery to our customers. My role also covers QHSE (Quality, H&S and environmental). We are lucky as a business to have a great Operations team.

When did you join W.Howard? 2019

What do you most enjoy about working at W.Howard? The fact that W.Howard is a family owned company and at the heart of the business is looking after our most valuable resource, our employees.

What is your Favourite Product and why? Chamfered and single V groove, had to say this as we have just fitted this throughout our house

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? YOLO (you only live once)

What most recently made you smile? How spoilt I was on my 50th Birthday by my wife, although I think it is now dawning on Sam, she is married to a 50-year-old!

Favourite Quote: Don’t let failure go to your heart and don’t let success go to your head – Will Smith

Interesting fact about me: I worked in Shanghai for 12 months as project manager to open a new manufacturing plant.

Favourite Place: Cyprus, as that is where Sam and I got married last year.

Favourite Book: The Goal. It is all about theories of constraint but written as a novel. Brilliant book that I have gone back to many times in my role in Operations

What was your first job? I left school with no GCSE’s and started at an apprentice engineering training school where I learnt the basics of engineering and H&S, I was also lucky to meet another apprentice who has gone on to be one of my closest friends.
