W.Howard reassures customers ahead of Brexit uncertainty.
The W.Howard Group has secured formal supply agreements with key suppliers, to counter the continued uncertainty surrounding Brexit negotiations and the impact of the possible options currently being debated in Parliament.
In response to questions on the issue from customers and suppliers, W. Howard’s Group Managing Director, Graham Williams, has written to W. Howard customers to reassure them that, whatever the outcome after 29th March, W. Howard will continue to supply its full range of market-leading MDF profiles to timber and builders’ merchants across the country.
In the letter, Williams said: “To counter continued uncertainty surrounding Brexit and the impact of options currently being debated in parliament, I can confirm that The W.Howard Group has taken every possible action to protect its valued partners against possible supply issues by agreeing formal supply agreements with key suppliers.
“This means that, in the event of a ‘no-deal’ Brexit and the subsequent introduction of World Trade Organisation tariffs on imports, we have continuity of supply guaranteed into our three manufacturing plants that would not be impacted negatively.
“Our purchasing policy for many years has been to source locally or nationally wherever possible and, as such, our exposure to delays in imports and potential associated tariffs is extremely limited.
“That said, we are acutely aware of the dangers of complacency and to that end have assurances from our suppliers regarding their supply chains.
“We pride ourselves on having developed collaborative partnerships with suppliers and believe this stands us and, therefore our customers in good stead for any challenges ahead.
“Of course, we will be keeping a very close eye on the outcomes of parliamentary votes and will be looking to adjust plans as and when required.”
