We are delighted to announce that W.Howard Group Limited have agreed a multi-year licence deal that will help revolutionise the MDF industry! For many years W.Howard has been investing in the development of a unique MDF recycling technology, working closely with MDF Recovery.

Research suggests more than 100 million m3 of MDF was produced worldwide in 2021. Until the invention of this patented recycling technology, much of the waste MDF was sent to landfill or incinerated. Now, this new partnership will create an entirely new closed loop supply chain that can convert end-of-life MDF products back into wood fibre for insulation. This will also help to provide a much-needed new source of natural insulation – one of Europe’s fastest growing market sectors.

Work has already begun on a brand new recycling facility in Newtown, Powys, with production expected to begin next year.

Jonathan Grant, Group Chief Executive of W Howard, said: “We are thrilled to have been able to invest into and support the development of this innovative process, which after many years of progress has now culminated in the signing of this Licence Agreement with MDF Recovery.

“W.Howard prides itself on being at the forefront of MDF Profiling, and this initiative shows that we are putting the environment at the very centre of the business. Once production begins in 2024 our valued customers will be able to buy our MDF products safe in the knowledge that they  can be recycled at the end of their natural life, offering a closed loop supply chain.”
